CHICAGO - Scientists in the United States (U.S.), successfully applied an experimental vaccine in monkeys, which help control the AIDS infection is more than one year. Scientists hope the vaccine will also be used by humans.
Scientists say that the vaccine makes the immune system attacks the HIV virus more quickly when it first enters the body, a period in which the virus is still weak. Similarly, as quoted by Reuters on Friday (05/13/2011).
Dr. Louis Picker of Oregon National Primate Research Center, was optimistic that the vaccine could be applied in humans within three years.
The vaccine was tested on monkeys Simian Immunodeficiency Virus. The vaccine has also demonstrated its ability to prevent the virus from replicating.
So far, the majority of the monkeys given the vaccine is able to control the AIDS infection for more than a year.
"We feel that this vaccine has the ability to control or clean up the HIV virus," lid Picker.
