China's Online Population Reaching 477 Million
BEIJING - The number of Internet users in China, which incidentally is the largest online marketplace, increased. Late last March, China's Internet population reached 477 million was recorded.
Similarly, an official statement of the Telecommunications Administration Bureau, which is under the auspices of the Ministry of Industry and Information Technology told the news agency Xinhua quoted as saying by the Straits Times, Tuesday (05/17/2011).
Late 2010, the number of Internet users in China has reached 457 million. That is, more than a third of China's population reaches 1.3 billion already 'literacy' internet.
The amount of Chinese Internet users managed to make the Internet as a forum for citizens to express the aspirations of their opinions. For a country that still strictly controls their traditional media, this is certainly a concern in itself.
Over the last few years, the Chinese government continues to increase supervision of Internet users. Government Affairs Bamboo Curtain known to block the sites content which is considered politically smelly and potentially causing unrest among the people.
