DUBLIN - An Irish citizen threatened to kill the President of the United States, Barack Obama. But before the person is launching its action, he was later arrested by Irish police.
The suspect is known as Ireland's leading Muslim figure who is famous for its radical stance. Is Khalid Kelly, the so-called "Terry Taliban" by the citizens of Dublin, was arrested at his home on suspicion of planning the assassination of President Obama.
Currently, Kelly is still detained a local jail and awaiting a decision to release or extension of his detention.
The arrest was carried out 10 days before Obama arrived in Ireland. Earlier, four days ago, the Sunday Mirror newspaper interview released them with kelly. 44-year-old man, known as a major supporter of Al Qaeda and Osama bin Laden.
"Personally, I am certainly pleased if Obama were killed. Of course I am happy to see the main enemy of Islam vanished from the earth," said Kelly in an interview with The Sunday Mirror, quoted by the Associated Press on Friday (05/13/2011).
In the interview, Kelly said he would kill Obama alone. But she is too well known by the Irish police.
Obama is scheduled to visit Dublin, Ireland May 23 next. Irish Police Force itself has been troubled by the security operation involving 10 thousand police officers, assigned to protect himself and Queen Elizabeth II during a visit for four days.
Sementera Kelly was known as a Catholic man who converted to Islam. He converted to Islam while imprisoned in Saudi Arabia in 2000, a result was caught selling alcohol.
